NSAN has today announced the appointment of Martyn Fletcher as the new Independent Board Chair with effect from December 2017. Martyn succeeds Robert Davies, who after three successful years as Chairperson, announced his decision to step down from the Board.
Martyn Fletcher has been a member of the NSAN’s Employer Advisory Board since January 2016, and previously held a position on the Board of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear Manufacturing for four years. He is currently the Director or Procurement and Logistics at Doosan Babcock. Martyn has held a number of operational management roles since joining the organisation in 1991, including significant involvement in skills, resources and training. Martyn has been actively involved with ECITB for nearly 20 years including 10 years as Board member
Upon his appointment Jo Tipa, Operations Director who led the Nominations Committee process commented:
“It is of paramount importance that NSAN has the right Chairperson. We received a number of very strong applications for the position, all from excellent candidates. I would like to thank all the candidates for their time in applying for the position. After lengthy discussions and deep consideration, it was felt that Martyn was the best choice to take on the role of Chairman.
Martyn’s strong record on boards of skills focussed organisations, his deep understanding of NSAN’s operations through his role on the NSAN Manufacturing Board and as member of the Employer Advisory Board, alongside his industry knowledge made him the leading choice. Martyn has a strong empathy with our values, culture and commitment to serving our members, customers and the wider UK nuclear industry. We are delighted that he has accepted the role.”
Commenting on his appointment, Martyn Fletcher said:
“NSAN has an excellent brand within the industry, and plays a pivotal role in supporting the development and recognition of skills for the nuclear sector. I am pleased and excited to be able to help and guide NSAN and the sector prepare for the significant investment ahead. I would like to thank Rob Davies for his dedication and insightful support to NSAN during his tenure. I would also like to acknowledge the tremendous investment that Jean Llewellyn has made to NSAN and the profile of the sector during her time as CEO. We wish them both well.”
Robert Davies, Chairman, commented:
“It has been a privilege to have been the Chairman of NSAN over the past three years. It is a company with tremendous potential and I’m sure that Martyn is the right person to chair the Board for the next phase of its development. I wish Martyn and everyone at NSAN every success in the future”
