There are two variations of the GAIN programme available – tailored for specific cohorts. Click the buttons below for the course information.
- GAIN (Growing Awareness in Nuclear) – for mixed cohorts and sector transitioners.
- GAIN Lite – aimed at non-technical people who will be working in the nuclear industry.
Building on the Award for Nuclear Industry Awareness qualification, GAIN has been designed to ease the transition and prepare new entrants for working in the nuclear industry.
GAIN is suitable for all job roles. Three units combine to provide a whole sector viewpoint, including nuclear new build, operations, decommissioning and the fuel cycle. It delivers a comprehensive level of awareness in, and confirms understanding of, nuclear history, nuclear science, and the application of nuclear energy and waste disposal.
GAIN has been developed to support the rising need for distance learning and to support rapid increase in remote working across the sector. High quality online learning is a proven way of supporting induction and upskilling programmes, whilst at the same time saving time and money compared with more traditional alternatives requiring travel and time away from work and home.

Customise your GAIN programme – let us draw from the extensive knowledge within the NSAN training and subject matter expert network to create a fully bespoke programme for you. You can choose to add interactive sessions on any topic of interest to your business.
Duration
Flexible delivery options to suit your new starters’ availability, for example from individual eLearning at any time, through to fully tutored learning, i.e. over three consecutive days or shorter, half-day sessions.
Delivery Options
There are three core delivery options that can be deployed to suit your needs and budget, including:
GAIN Solo
Learners progress independently and at their own pace through the ANIA* eLearning course.
GAIN Interact
For multiple learners in the same period: ANIA eLearning plus additional online tutored sessions and quizzes to help embed the learning and enable interaction through group work in virtual breakout rooms.
GAIN Live
Live interactive teaching sessions, covering the whole of the ANIA syllabus, delivered by NSAN and a professional tutor with extensive industry experience. For upcoming “GAIN Live” open courses, please visit our scheduled courses page.
All options include learner workbooks, an example of a mock exam paper and additional information such as reading lists on request. Online exam preparation and revision sessions can also be included for an additional cost as required.
