The National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN) was pleased to officially welcome Great British Nuclear (GBN) as a new member during our Skills Symposium held in Manchester on 20th March 2025.
This exciting new partnership marks an important milestone in our shared commitment to tackling the UK’s workforce challenges and driving forward the nuclear sector’s future.
As a leading organisation in the skills needed for nuclear, NSAN works in collaboration with employers and providers to develop innovative solutions and provide high-quality, industry-specific training to address critical workforce demands within the nuclear sector. With the addition of GBN to our network, we are poised to continue making significant strides in ensuring the UK’s nuclear workforce is equipped with the skills needed to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
GBN, tasked with delivering the government’s long-term nuclear programme, will play a pivotal role in supporting the UK’s ambitious goal of generating up to 24GW of nuclear power by 2050. This initiative is set to meet nearly a quarter of the UK’s total power demand, providing a low-carbon and secure energy source, while contributing to the country’s energy security and helping to achieve net zero targets.
NSAN’s Managing Director, Tricia Austin commented:
“We are thrilled to welcome Great British Nuclear as a member of NSAN. This collaboration will play a crucial role in addressing the skills challenges facing the nuclear industry and will be key to supporting the UK’s net zero ambitions.
As we move forward, NSAN looks forward to working with GBN to support the development of their talent pipeline, whilst continuing to support the wider sector, ensuring a resilient, and highly capable workforce to power the UK’s nuclear future.”
Rachel Welch, GBN’s Chief People Officer said:
“We know delivering world-class nuclear projects starts with developing brilliant people. Our membership with NSAN supports our ambition to grow a future ready workforce that’s equipped to deliver the scale of what’s ahead, ensuring the long-term benefits of jobs, innovation and energy security are felt across the UK.”
