New Nuclear Security Curse Launched
NSAN and provider member Ubique Risk Management have worked in collaboration to launch a new and updated Triple Bar for Nuclear Security (TBNS) course.
This course has been developed collaboratively to support one of the sector’s key priorities of security. The TBNS will provide learners with first-hand knowledge of working securely within the civil nuclear industry in the UK.
The first course is scheduled to take place on the 24th November 2022 and will be delivered through tutor-led online delivery, by Ubique Risk Management.
The TBNS will provide learners with an understanding of the fundamentals of nuclear security in the UK focussing on core concepts including:
• Legislation, regulation, and stakeholders
• Assets to be protected and threats
• Pre-employment and pre-site visit security awareness vetting and clearance levels
• On-site security awareness including general rules, security culture, personnel security, physical security, information security, and cyber security.
In keeping with the NSAN’s Triple Bar format the course will be delivered in three ‘bars’ or modules:
• Civil Nuclear Industry Basic Security Directives
• Civil Nuclear Industry Basic Security Essentials
• Civil Nuclear Industry Basic Security Accountability.
The TBNS joins four other Triple Bar courses which have been developed for the industry. The Triple Bar courses are introductory courses for new people joining or transitioning into nuclear. The Triple Bars include the Triple Bar for Existing Sites, Nuclear New Build Sites, Nuclear Manufacturing and Nuclear Leadership.
Jo Tipa, Managing Director of NSAN commented.
“Effective leadership and culture for safety and security is critical to all organisation’s working in the nuclear sector. Having the right nuclear safety and security culture in place plays an important role in ensuring that individuals have the right behaviours and skills to secure a safe nuclear future together.
We are delighted to be launching this training course in collaboration with Ubique, focusing on the security fundamentals and further expands the Triple Bar suite of courses supporting key behavioural and cultural requirements around leadership, safety and manufacturing for the nuclear sector.”
Richard Ross, Managing Director of Ubique Risk Management commented.
“Ubique Risk Management are delighted and honoured to announce that we have partnered with NSAN to create a re-aligned TBNS training course.
The content covers a range of aspects intended to educate and encourage positive engagement in their organisation’s and client’s security cultures. It also highlights common areas of risk and provides guidance on avoiding pitfalls, protecting individuals, their organisations, and the Civil Nuclear Industry as a whole.
The TBNS has been designed to be of use to persons in any job role, providing them with a distinct advantage in a highly regulated environment.”
