Celebrating New Accreditations and Commitments at NSAN

As Managing Director of the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN), it is my pleasure to share some exciting updates as we continue to drive standards and support excellence in skills across the UK’s nuclear sector.

NSAN has consistently maintained Cyber Essentials accreditation since the standard’s inception, and I am delighted to share that we have now achieved the prestigious Cyber Essentials Plus certification. In today’s climate, where cyber threats are ever-evolving and increasingly sophisticated, protecting critical information and systems is paramount for every organisation in the nuclear supply chain. This enhanced accreditation stands as a testament to the strength of our cybersecurity practices, demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding sensitive data for our partners and members.

Another milestone for NSAN is our new status as a Disability Confident Employer. The nuclear industry, with its diverse and highly skilled workforce, benefits immensely from inclusivity and equal opportunities. By joining the Disability Confident scheme, we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting those with disabilities, breaking down barriers to employment, and nurturing a workplace where talent can flourish, regardless of background or circumstance.

This year, we have also pledged our support by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. Veterans and reservists bring a wealth of experience and unique skills to the nuclear industry. By signing this covenant, NSAN is dedicated to ensuring fair opportunities and recognising the invaluable contributions of those who have served. Supporting their transition into civilian roles not only strengthens our industry but also honours our commitment to social value.

Ethical business conduct remains at the heart of NSAN’s operations. I am delighted to share that we have achieved bronze status in the Fair Payment Code, which demonstrates our commitment to transparent and prompt payments to our suppliers and partners. Looking ahead, we are actively striving to advance this standard to gold status in our next renewal. This progression is not only a mark of our ambition but also reflects our belief that higher standards are essential for fostering trust and stability, both within NSAN and throughout our supply chain. By prioritising this improvement, we aim to set a benchmark for ethical practice in the sector and strengthen relationships with those we work with.

We have also maintained ISO 9001 accreditation for several years, a testament to our unwavering commitment to quality management and continuous improvement. This internationally recognised standard demonstrates that NSAN consistently delivers services and processes that meet customer and regulatory requirements, while striving for excellence in all aspects of our operations.

As we move forwards, NSAN plans to uphold excellence, inclusivity, and responsibility in every aspect of our work. These recent accreditations are not just badges of honour, they are the foundation upon which we will continue to support the UK nuclear industry, its people, and its partners.
