NSAN is proud to support member organisation Centre for Leadership Performance's Dream Placement 2020.
Dream Placement 2020 is a vital step on a ladder of achievement. It gives 16-18 year olds the chance to gain life-changing experience of leadership and career opportunities, and spend a week within Cumbria’s top businesses and organisations over February half-term.
It also aims to give every applicant the knowledge to succeed, the confidence which will build their future character, and the benefit of meeting other young people and business leaders with whom they can share experiences and aspirations as they move forward.
Organised and delivered by the Centre for Leadership Performance, the development programme is funded by businesses that share a commitment to invest in Cumbria’s young people. It brings together today’s and tomorrow’s leaders in a unique interactive environment where they can connect with host companies that benefit from a head start in engaging with and retaining Cumbria’s future leaders.
The closing date is October 28th.
Almost 200 students are expected to apply, with up to 30 companies set to offer Dream Placements. Hosts range from major players in Cumbria’s nuclear sector to small and medium-size specialist companies, local authorities, and health trusts.
Students gain valuable experience and development opportunities and receive one-to-one feedback on their applications. They will learn how to promote themselves, how to identify and enhance their key qualities, how to make the most of applications and interviews, and how to network effectively.
CfLP Executive Director Sarah Glass explains: “Dream Placement offers students a unique life-changing opportunity to choose their career path. It is immensely satisfying for everyone involved to see the progress the students make during the selection process. Companies taking part also benefit from meeting and getting to know the young people, both during the selection and the placement itself. CfLP is all about collaboration and Dream Placement demonstrates that when businesses work together great things happen.”
Organisations supporting the scheme now in its seventh year include Cumbria LEP, Inspira, Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC), Energus, Choose Cumbria, Invest in South Lakeland, Innovative Enterprise, Institute of Directors, and National Skills Academy Nuclear (NSAN).
