NSAN Endorsed Programmes

NSAN Endorsed Programmes are courses delivered by our provider network that have been through our quality accreditation approval process and carry the associated quality mark.

Further Detail

Industry training standards have been in development by the nuclear sector since 2008 as a vehicle to support cost reduction and transferability through standardisation.  Typically these standards have been aligned to common training that takes place across the whole sector; such as Health and Safety, Human Performance etc.  In addition to these standards, the NS4P* has further supported the drive for standardisation through the development of competence standards, hosted within the NS4P online competence management system.

Industry Training and Competence Standards outline the required Skills, Knowledge and Behaviour/Attributes required for a specific training programme and/or role.

NSAN appreciates that much of the training undertaken by people falls outside the ‘transferrable’ and ‘large demand’ category, but nevertheless has value within the sector. In response to this we developed a process to formally recognise and endorse other employer/provider member specialist training, HE provision (including Foundation Degrees) and CPD. The application and approval process developed by NSAN enables this type of training to be assessed and benchmarked against relevant UK, IAEA and WANO Guidance, using independent peer review, as required.  The recipient of the quality mark is then able to demonstrate the quality behind their programme to prospective customers.

*The NS4P is an online competence management system. The NS4P will be renamed as Skills Assured in August 2020 as NSAN looks to bring its UK and International Trademarks together.

If you would be interested in undertaking the approval process for a course that you provide, contact us for more information.
