Nuclear Readiness Programme - New Anglia
This project is supported by New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, through the Innovative Project Fund
Funding support is available for local businesses based in the New Anglia region to undertake training to develop the skills needed to maximise the opportunities in nuclear.
To take advantage of the funding available to companies in the New Anglia LEP region, claim forms will be available from and submitted to West Suffolk College on completion of the relevant course(s). Payment will be made retrospectively.
The programme will provide up to 40% funding support to engage and equip businesses in the New Anglia region to maximise the benefits from nuclear site development and operations. The funding will support the upskilling, further development of businesses who may currently be, or are looking to be a part of the supply chain for Sizewell B as well as maximising the opportunities created by Sizewell C. The training will enable local companies to upskill their workforce and empower them to bid for a wider range of contracts in the nuclear industry both across the UK and internationally.

Jo Tipa, Managing Director of NSAN commented:
“This programme will support companies in Norfolk and Suffolk seeking to win business in nuclear. Nuclear power is an important technology in our effort to reach the UK’s Net Zero emissions target by 2050. The nuclear supply chain has a valuable contribution to make to this effort. NSAN are engaged with LEPs in key regions to ensure that we can support the development requirements of the nuclear industry and supply chain locally.”
Phil Stittle, Executive Director for Business Development at West Suffolk College said:
“We are very excited to be able to offer this project and support to local employers in Suffolk and Norfolk. The nuclear sector sometimes feels a far distance away for organisations to be involved with and to generate business from, however with this funding from New Anglia LEP and support from NSAN we can ensure anyone that wants to be involved can take the necessary steps to make their organisation and staff are ready. Lots of opportunities both locally and nationally exist in the sector and we are happy to be able to help local companies achieve success.”
Gareth Davies, Head of SZC Supply Chain Engagement at the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce said:
“The NALEP funded Nuclear Readiness Programme will be an important tool for local and regional businesses with aspirations to support the Nuclear Supply Chain. The aims of the programme align with the role of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce Sizewell C Supply Chain Engagement Team, of advising local and regional business on the standards that will need to be either aspired to, or further developed, so that they can improve their ability to secure SZC related contracts.”
