Introduction to Measurement & Inspection Techniques for Nuclear

A one-day course that reviews the fundamental principles of dimensional measurement and explains the roles of dimensional and non-destructive testing in the context of nuclear regulation.

Topics Covered
Principles of Dimensional Metrology;

  • metrology fundamentals
  • geometric design & tolerancing
  • inspection methods

Overviews of the features, capabilities & limitations of common techniques

  • contact coordinate measurement machines (CMM)
  • optical & non-contact metrology
  • NDT - ultrasonic, eddy current, MPI etc.

Who should attend?

Anyone working in manufacturing seeking to increase their awareness of machining methods and applications in the nuclear context. They are ideal for those starting their careers in machining, as well as experienced engineers, e.g. in design or production, who would benefit from an insight into the features, capabilities and limitations of the above mentioned techniques and technologies.

Open course dates for this programme are set on an ad-hoc basis depending on demand. Currently no further open/public dates are planned for 2017, however, please register your interest here and we will be in touch if demand increases and we are able to put another course on.
